With all that is going on in the White House, you may have a hard time following all the drama. But you have probably heard about President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance bullying the president of a country at war: Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy came to the White House to negotiate with President Trump about ending the war with Russia and ended up getting made fun of for his clothes.
At the beginning of the discussion, Mr. Trump talked about how he would be nice to Russian President Vladimir Putin because that would be the only way to get a ceasefire. In other words, he would respect a dictator that is an enemy of the U.S., but bully and disrespect an ally of the U.S. that we should be aiding in their war against our enemy. Throughout the discussion Mr. Trump and Mr. Vance blamed both Mr. Zelenskyy and former President Joe Biden for the Russian-Ukraine war, which was started when Russia invaded Ukraine. They were very disrespectful to Mr. Zelenskyy, interrupting him and not letting him get a word in for the whole time.
Later, when they took questions, Brian Glenn, the boyfriend of U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Georgia), asked Mr. Zelenskyy a very inconsiderate, irreverent, and insulting question: “Why don’t you wear a suit?” Mr. Zelenskyy—despite the disrespectful question—gave a very reasonable answer. He said that, “I will wear a costume after this war will finish.” He said that he will not dress up to look good and perfectly put together, when his country is in disarray. He said he will wear the military attire he was wearing to show his support for his country.
Both the President and Vice President of the United States were incredibly ill-mannered and impolite to a hero and ally of our country. They disgraced our country. Our opinion is that we should stand with Ukraine and not with Putin.
